Its population density is 2,824.3 hab/km2. Its patron saint is São Domingos de Gusmão.

In recent years, this parish has experienced accelerated development, with a heterogeneous population characterized by a high rate of middle-aged people, having a network of social equipment, such as a Library, Health Centre, Sports Complex, Fixed Traffic School (in Abóboda) and various schools, being assisted by the Voluntary Fire Brigade of Carcavelos which has come to be called "Carcavelos - São Domingos de Rana".

The Municipal Aerodrome of Cascais (popularly known as Tires Aerodrome) is located in this parish.
