Mateus is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Vila Real, of urban profile, inserted almost entirely in the perimeter of the city of Vila Real.
It has an area of 4.14 km² and 3 400 inhabitants (2011).

Of the 20 parishes of the municipality resulting from the administrative reorganization of 2012/2013, it is the 19th in area, the 3rd in resident population and the 2nd in population density (821.3 hab/km²).

It includes in its territory the following places: Abambres, Bairro do Marrão, Boque (place shared with the urban parish of Vila Real), Mateus (headquarters) and Raia.
