How to have more light in your home now that the days are shorter

Summer is long gone and autumn has arrived, with its chestnuts, falling leaves and shorter, and therefore less bright, days. There are a few tricks for "dressing" your windows so you can have more light without paying the price of being seen by the whole neighbourhood. How to do this? There are actually several options, it´s just a question of finding the one that best suits your home and décor.

• Translucent curtains and blinds. This type of blind lets in a lot of light, especially if you choose a light colour, but it also has the advantage that you can´t see out through it. We recommend combining them with curtains. They are ideal for living rooms and bedrooms, preserving privacy without losing a drop of light.
• Two blinds: with two blinds you´ll be able to regulate the intensity of the light you want to receive in the room and you can also adjust the intensity of the heat. Try combining two different blinds, with different fabrics, textures and, of course, colours. The best thing to do is opt for one opaque and one translucent, so you can play around with the materials.
• Blackout: No blinds in your room? If you don´t want to install them because they cost a fortune, consider blackout blinds (for greater privacy).
• Japanese panelling: it can´t be beaten for elegance. The system is made up of overlapping panels that slide horizontally and thus allow the light to pass through according to your needs.
