Avenidas Novas is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Lisbon, in the centre of the capital.
The name Avenidas Novas originated at the end of the 19th century with the restructuring of the area carried out by Ressano Garcia, who emphasised the wide streets and façades with landscaped courtyards, characteristic of Art Nouveau and Art Deco. 
This urban renewal was inspired by the Paris Extension Plan, realised by Georges-Eugène Haussmann, which Ressano Garcia attended as a student in the French capital.

The parish of Avenidas Novas is today one of the city´s strategic business centres, and is home to universities, embassies, museums and two of Lisbon´s largest concert halls.
